FAQs

... frequently asked questions

How many can you paint in an hour?

10-12. This takes into consideration a few things like getting on the chair then off the chair, type of design, indecisiveness, wriggly bums, headband for hair, brush washing, wiping sticky faces, kiddy chit chat, questions, special requests and just all those little things that can come with little humans that take time and care. To fit more faces into a tighter time frame I can paint smaller designs (but still fun and vibrant) just let me know your preference before confirming a spot. I'm a Mum, I know it can be almost impossible to confirm exact numbers but a good solid estimation is necessary. it helps me plan a "face paint menu" for the kids to choose from. I don't want to offer larger more detailed designs if I realistically don't have the time. If there is not enough time, painting the last few kids with smaller designs is not fair or fun.

Is set-up included in the booked time slot?

You pay for paint time only. I arrive 15 minutes early to set up and leave 15 minutes after the agreed time slot and this is included in our transaction.

Do you need tables and chairs?

I come with everything I need however I do ask if we are outdoors that I be situated under shade/shelter for the kids. I like to travel light. If you'd prefer I use your furniture I can do that too. I don't take up too much space, a 3m x 3m spot will suffice.

Can I change the location?

Yes. Things happen and Gisborne weather can be unpredictable. We can plan for a nice day at the park then end up at the local hall. Give me enough time and I can be there.

Do you have a travel charge?

If the location is more than 20kms from Gisborne city center there will be an 99 cent/km charge from the 20km mark.

Do you charge a booking fee?

Yes. Once all details are confirmed, you will receive an invoice for the agreed time slot. Only a portion is due upfront to secure the booking (refundable up to 14 days before event) and the balance is due upon job completion/next business day. Children's/Private Events - $20 Large events of 3 hours or more - 50%

How should I remove face paint?

I find and recommend a face cloth and warm water. Simple. I start at the eye lid/brow area and wipe up and away from the eyes. Then with a clean section of the face cloth, begin again below the eye and wipe down the cheek, muzzle and chin. Then pay attention to this missed bits. Some colours may stain skin temporarily, this is where we can step it up a notch by using a flannel, cotton pad/ball and apply a little oil (baby oil, cream, or coconut oil are great... but olive oil does the trick just as well) and rub over the stubborn stains. The oil picks up the pigments/paint and the stains should come right off!

How do you manage a line?

For large events like community days in the park, all face painters hope and expect mums/dads/caregivers are close by monitoring. This prevents line jumping and potential squabbles. Im often a one man band and keeping an an eye on whos exactly next can be tricky. I close the line with a sign in and stamp the children in the line to ensure they are painted before times up.

Can you tell me more about the paint you use?
